Leading in uncertainty and complexity

In an era of geopolitical turmoil, technological shifts and economic instability, traditional leadership is not enough. This course takes lessons from modern military leadership - where people need to be able to make independent decisions in complex, rapidly changing situations - and translates them into a civilian context of innovation, transformation and development.

The course is based on the VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity) strategic leadership framework and methodology developed by Ebba Laurin, Ph.D., over more than a decade of working with companies in different industries and phases - from mergers and acquisitions to growth and crisis management. The result is a practical and future-oriented approach that helps you think strategically and act with clarity, even when the playing field is changing rapidly.
The training is experiential and based on your own strategic and operational reality. You work actively with your role, your challenges and your organization's conditions. Together, we immerse ourselves in a few carefully selected theories and models with a focus on application - knowledge that works for you, not just in theory.

During the course you will get tools to:

  • Creating psychological safety in teams and organizations
  • Understanding and managing complex change and transformation
  • Leading effectively in uncertainty and rapid change
  • Strengthen self-organization and decision-making skills in teams
  • Analyze context and adapt actions strategically
  • Embedding and implementing change with real impact

You will develop your ability to combine strategic thinking with practical leadership, challenge ingrained structures, explore future scenarios and build trust, direction and ownership - even in turbulent times. Working with your organization's collective behaviours, you will also gain new insights into how culture is created, sustained - and can be changed.
